Clair Tappaan Lodge, Hutchinson Lodge and the four backcountry huts are temporarily closed.
All of our operations have been closed since mid-March 2020 as a response to the pandemic. We are just planning our gradual reopening.
At this time, we are only accepting group inquiries for Clair Tappaan and Hutchinson Lodges. California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced group guidelines on April 2, 2021 and we will consider inquiries for July 5, 2021 or later. Additionally, all group requests will be evaluated by the operations and safety/risk management teams prior to approval. We will discuss Covid-19 prevention practices with group coordinators prior to evaluation and approval.
Not sure when the huts will be open for bookings. It is now looking more like July or August, possible later. We must get work parties together to do hantavirus cleaning and make any repairs needed before we can open to reservations. We are also examining how to book the huts fairly. At least for some time yet, we will not be able to put strangers together and will likely book to groups only. As we know more, we will update the website. We thought we may be able to open the huts earlier in the summer but after much discussion it has become obvious that this was a bit ambitious. If we are able to open earlier, we will.
Winter reservations for the huts will open in November.
This is an extremely challenging time for all and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
