FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I make a reservation?  Please call the lodge at 530-426-3632 to make a reservation. Once your information has been submitted, we will send you a confirmation email with pertinent information.

When can we check in and out?  Check-in is at 3 PM and check-out is at 11 AM. Early check-ins and late check-outs must be arranged with the front office.

Are children welcome?  Yes, however, children must be supervised by an adult as emergency services are not always available.

Can we bring our dogs?  Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed at the Lodge.

Smoking?  The lodge is a non-smoking facility (that includes the surrounding property).  Smoking is permitted in the parking lot (across the street).  Please dispose of the remainder of your cigarette consciously.

What is your cancellation policy?  Please see our policy here.

How do Meals Work?  Breakfast and dinner have pre-arranged seating times. There is one menu choice with a vegetarian option that you request in advance. If we are informed in advance of dietary restrictions, we make every effort to accommodate requests. Bag lunches are available for pick-up at breakfast.

Do we need to bring our sleeping bags and towels?  Yes.  Guests should bring their own sleeping bag, towel and toiletries.   We also suggest that you bring a water bottle.   Sleeping bags, blankets, and towels can be rented for a fee.

Wedding and Event Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the facility fee?

  • Exclusive use of Clair Tappaan Lodge from Friday at 2:00 PM – Sunday at 12:00 PM

  • Plates, bowls, cups, mugs, and silverware

  • Access to activities, including a self-guided nature trail, hot tub, and more

  • Trash pick-up and disposal, recycling, and maintenance of grounds for your event

Can we bring our family to tour the site?

  • Of course! Your booking process consists of an initial site visit/guided tour and one follow-up site visit with staff to discuss food and details.

  • These visits will run approximately 60 – 90 minutes.

  • You are welcome to bring family members or friends on any of your visits. As a courtesy, please let us know how many people we can be expecting.

  • At this time, we are unable to provide availability information on our website. Please call our front office at (530) 426-3632 for availability questions.

What is the alcoholic beverage policy?

  • Clair Tappaan Lodge does not possess a beer and wine license; we will work with you to provide referrals for alcoholic options.

Can we bring our own food or caterer?

  • Yes; If they need to utilize our kitchen an additional fee may apply, and the F&B minimums also still apply.

  • You may bring pre-packaged snacks for your group. Limited refrigeration is available when arranged in advance.

How do meals work?

  • We offer plated meals in our dining room or outdoors. You select the times and menus.
    Dietary restrictions and allergen-free food service can often be provided by the kitchen. Communicate your needs to our Wedding Coordinator via email.

Is Coffee/Tea available 24 hours a day?

  • Coffee and tea are provided during meal times only.

  • Any needs beyond that will be considered on a case-by-case basis at an additional cost.

Do you have water or cold beverages available throughout the day?

  • A water bottle fill station is near the library and available 24 hours a day and all of the sinks in the Lodge pull from the same water source and are quite drinkable. Please encourage your group to bring water bottles for use during non-meal times.

Can we set up and decorate?

  • Yes, your party is responsible for all decorating and clean up afterwards.

  • Candles are allowed but must be enclosed.

  • Decorations must be approved in advance by Clair Tappaan Lodge.

  • No nails, staples, painting, or gluing are allowed for decorative purposes. The Lodge does not provide materials for decoration.
